No, You’re Stupid!

Matt and I often have conversations that degenerate from insightful, thought provoking commentaries into poo flinging matches of who’s stupid. But, I’ve decided that there really are people who are stupid, and that Matt and I are doing an injustice to all the truly intellectual people who, like us, just like to indulge our geek side. The stupid people are all the unimaginative gasbags out there who claim to hate all things science fiction or fantasy.
Yes, the other day my husband told me that he actually fraternizes with people who claim to hate things that are awesome: sci-fi AND fantasy. I mean, who can blanket statement argue that point? You hated Lord of the Rings? You hate Star Wars AND Star Trek? Not to mention that because you are judgmental and limit your exposure to said awesome, you haven’t even seen Firefly or Alien or read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!??! You didn’t read Narnia as a kid? The Princess Freakin’ Bride?!??! I’m getting all worked up here because there are too many amazing examples to even keep going. How can you exclude entire genres?
And the worst part is, these people claim they only like “real” things. What the heck is that about? You like romantic comedies? Psh, please. That’s totally realistic... You like dramas? Sci-fi and fantasy are loaded with dramatic moments. You like documentaries? Stop being so boring!
I know, live and let live. It just burns my britches that those judgmental snobs are all, “I’m too cool to waste my time with your nonsense.” Screw you! I’m not wasting time, I’m enjoying the next what, 20,000, more days I have to spend sharing this planet with you idiots.
