I Want To Believe: Blogging the X-Files
By Matt Baker September 23, 2009
Lately I have been craving X-Files. Where is the fun in life without some pure, unadulterated government-teaming-up-with-bad-aliens-while-working-to-sabotage-them-and-avoiding-rebel-aliens conspiracies? So anyway, I watched the pilot episode last night and realized that I should work on rewatching the entire series and that I should blog about it while I do. Because if there is anything I have learned over the past year of running this website, it is that nobody is reading and I can do and say whatever the hell I please, all the while deluding myself that inquiring minds want to know. So let the delusion continue!
I don’t plan on writing a blog for every episode, but the pilot seems special. In the future I will just write one or two blogs per season, or if something particularly awesome strikes me. The pilot episode, while certainly not the best in the series, is an excellent introduction to the show. Mulder already seems a bit crazy and Scully is no-nonsense, but both actors don’t seem to have really warmed up to their characters yet. Things are a bit stilted and awkward, but even by the second episode they are pretty much the characters we know and love. I always wonder if the full story of Billy Myles is even known by the writers at this point, although this is a question that constantly plagues The X-Files through its entire run. As I progress through the series I will keep an eye out for any foreshadowing or inconsistencies. So from this blog forward: SPOILERS!
